Two weeks ago, a small delegation from RI travelled to Munich to attend the presentation of a new rocket for EuROC 2025, the European Rocketry Challenge, developed by students from the TU München.
At TUM, there is a scientific workgroup called WARR (short for Scientific Workgroup for Rocketry and Spaceflight – German: Wissenschaftliche Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Raketentechnik und Raumfahrt). You may have heard of them before because WARR has recently gained public attention for its successes in space elevator and Hyperloop competitions. Today, WARR is working on a total of five different ambitious projects around the theme of space.
Our role? RI is proud to support WARR with engineering expertise and machine time.
Specifically, as sponsorship for the next planned rocket generation, we used CNC milling to finish the final geometries and obtain the required surface finish on pump housings made by 3D printing from titanium and Inconel.
It was a great pleasure to be in Munich—such a fantastic atmosphere, with so many motivated and highly skilled young people. We wish them the very best of luck in their upcoming competitions!
