Christina W.

Project Engineer

How did you come to join RI?

I studied chemical engineering/process engineering with a focus on cryogenics and thermodynamics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. KIT and RI, as one of the few companies active in cryogenics in Germany, have already successfully completed projects in the past. I became aware of RI through this connection. In March 2020, I started at RI more or less directly during the first Corona lockdown. Thanks to the helpful colleagues, I nevertheless quickly found my way into my new tasks in the area of cryomodules and later the fusion equipment.

What are you currently doing at RI?

At the moment, I am a project engineer with special responsibility for the design, production and testing of complex components for the ITER project. On a day-to-day basis, this means the process engineering design of cryogenic valve boxes including instrumentation, supervision of the manufacturing process and planning and execution of the final tests before delivery. In addition to the technical tasks, I am responsible for communicating with customers and coordinating various subcontractors. Furthermore, I support all project teams with cryogenics-specific questions as a technical specialist.

What makes RI special to you?

As RI works on technical projects from the concept phase to completion, the work is very varied. The production of individual parts based on customer-specific requirements can also be very challenging and is only possible as part of a team. This team spirit is what makes RI stand out from my point of view.
